Frequently Asked Questions
How do I join? You've got FOUR choices... 1. Go to the Town of Bedford Recreation Department and fill out the appropriate forms. 2. Go to the Town of Bedford Recreation Department’s ONLINE REGISTRATION site. 3. Download the REGISTRATION FORM on this website, print out the forms and mail them to the Town of Bedford Recreation Department. 4. Go to the MEET AND GREET on June 2nd - forms will be available to fill out and submit to the Town. Does my child need to know all 4 competitive strokes to be on the swim team? New swimmers to the team must be willing to LISTEN, LEARN, PRACTICE and do their BEST.  Swimmers simply need to be able to swim freestyle the length of the pool (25 meters) without assistance. When is practice? Once the regular season begins, practice is every weekday.  Practices begin at 7:30 AM and end at 8:45 AM.  It's best to have your swimmer at the pool by 7:25 AM so he/she is ready to dive in on time!  Dive practice is Tuesday - Friday from 4:00pm - 5:00pm for Ages 10 & under and 5:00pm - 6:00pm for Ages 11 & older. Will every child get to participate in a swim meet? YES! The best part of the Katonah Swim and Dive Team is the opportunity for every swimmer to gain experience and enjoy the thrill of a competitive swim meet. There are several types of competitions during the summer swim season. A Meet: This is a DUAL meet against another swim team in our division.  KSDT coaches create a line-up of swimmers based on the swimmer's time in each stroke. B Meet: This is a swim meet with various teams in our division.  ANY KSDT swimmer who has not participated and placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any event in an A MEET (excluding relays) can participate in a B Meet.  B Meets are a fabulous place to gain experience, have fun and improve individual times. Invitational: KSDT is invited to participate in several Invitationals each summer. An Invitational is a fun, festive meet where several local teams compete for a trophy. There are competitive races/relays, as well as lots of goofy and silly races, too!  Invitationals are a great opportunity to get the whole team involved! How do l know if my child is in an A Meet, B Meet or Invitational? All information for swim meets is posted on the KSDT Bulletin Board outside the Girl's Locker Room.  Parents and swimmers should make it a habit to look at the board often for new information and updates! What are Donut Fridays? KSDT would not be the same without Donut Fridays!  After practice on Friday mornings, all KSDT swimmers can pick out a donut to enjoy.  After all the KSDT swimmers get the donut of their choice, little brothers and sisters (and even parents) can buy a donut for $0.25.  Not a swimmer?  That’s OK - Divers get to enjoy Ice Pop Friday following diving practice.
